Most frequent questions and answers

 

Safety is our top priority. The National Axe Throwing Federation sets guidelines for axe throwing, pit dimensions, and safety parameters, which we follow carefully. Each throwing lane has a safety cage. Our Axe Masters give safety orientations and throwing tutorials to participants, and our trained staff oversees the lanes. And, if you’re not playing by the rules, we’ll boot ya.

60 minutes of lane time, including a short orientation with your Axe Master.

Due to safety concerns, only Axe Garage equipment is allowed. 

-Drinks, no. We have a full bar that includes sodas, beer, and liquor.

Absolutely! We always welcome spectators. However, due to our limited space, we may ask you to move off to the side or stay in the bar area.

We are currently run rec leagues on our Projected Target lanes during the Fall and Winter seasons.

We allow axe throwing for ages 12-20, as long as they are accompanied by their parent, legal guardian, or spouse of legal drinking age. Please understand this is in accordance with Sec. 125.07(3), Wis. Stats.

No, we do not – no exceptions. Any behavior that puts any patrons at risk will result in immediate expulsion from our venue.

Due to safety concerns, only Axe Garage equipment is allowed.

You must participate in the Axe Master training before you can handle an axe. If your whole group is late, the Axe Master can do the orientation when you arrive, but you will lose more of your reserved lane time. If a member of your group misses the Axe Master training, he/she can purchase another one for $10 upon arrival.

Axe Garage General Policies

  • All guests must be at least 21 years
  • All guests must adhere to all rules, policies, and Axe Master instructions. We reserve the right to refuse service and revoke axe throwing privileges to anyone at any time, with no refunds.
  • All axe throwers must wear closed toe shoes. Sandals and flip flops are not allowed.
  • All guests must fill out and sign their own Liability Waiver prior to participating.
  • We supply and maintain the throwing hatchets. No outside hatchets or knives may be brought into the facility.
  • No outside beverages may be brought on the premises at any time.
  • No food carry-ins are allowed during.

Safety

Safety is a top priority at Axe Garage. To ensure every guest have a safe experience, below are the following list of safety features and  precautions followed:

  • All customers are required to sign a Waiver of Liability explaining that they  understand the rules and etiquette of Axe Garage.
  • Safety training required for every guest by a trained instructor (Axe-Master).
  • Only one hatchet may be thrown at a time.
  • Rubber mats are installed below the targets to absorb impact and reduce travel.
  • 10 foot high fencing is installed between each lane. 
  • Limit of 6 persons per lane. 
  • Safety rules displayed prominently around the location. 
  • Axe Garage’s staff regularly monitors lanes, enforcing safety codes.
  • No open toed shoes permitted. 
  • Axes not allowed outside the throwing area. 
  • Overhand throws only. 
  • Double Axe throwing not permitted. 
  • No trick shots, double hatchet throwing, etc… 
  • No aggressive/destructive throwing allowed. 
  • All axes and lanes are inspected daily for wear and damage. 
  • Axe Garage employees have the right to refuse play to any persons unable to perform safety requirements.

COVID-19 WARNING

An inherent risk of exposure to COVID-19 exists in any public place where people are present. COVID-19 is an extremely contagious disease that can lead to severe illness and death. According to the CDC, senior citizens and guests with underlying medical conditions are especially vulnerable. By visiting Axe Garage, you voluntarily assume all risks related to exposure to COVID-19.

HOUSE RULES

Waiver And Clothing
  • All players/participants must read and sign the waiver, Closed-toed shoes are also required.

It’s Axe Throwing, Not Axe Catching
  • DO NOT TRY TO CATCH AN AXE! If an axe bounces back from a target, quickly step backward and to the side in your lane. DO NOT point or gesture with the axe, ANY MISHANDLING OF AN AXE OR HORSEPLAY WILL NOT BE TOLERATED AND WILL RESULT IN YOUR REMOVAL FROM THE ACTIVITY!

Stay In Safety Areas
  • There is only one person in a lane at any time.
  • Do not enter a lane until it is completely cleared.
  • When entering a lane, step directly into your lane, do not wander into another players area.
  • If you are not throwing, you must remain 5 ft behind the thrower at all times.

One Axe At A time
  • Only one axe is thrown at a time in each lane. Whether it sticks or not, retrieve the axe that is thrown before starting another turn.

No Axes Outside The Fenced lane
  • Do not remove an axe from the throwing area.
  • All axes must remain in the fenced lane area at all times.

  Don’t Touch The Fence
  • Do not touch or grab the fence, either in the spectator area, or especially when picking up an axe off the ground.

  Don’t Hand Off An Axe
  • Handing off an axe might take your hand off! Do not hand another player an axe.
  • When done throwing, replace your axe in the wood stump and exit the area. The next player can then select their own axe when entering.

  If You See Something, Say Something
  • Please let us know if you need a board replaced, or if you notice any damage to an axe. We want you to have the best experience possible, and want to provide the equipment and environment to do so.
